Bryan Cranston, der in seiner Rolle als Walter White in Breaking Bad seinen internationalen Durchbruch feierte, ist am Sonntagabend (08. Juni) in New York mit einem Tony Award für sein Broadway-Debüt ausgezeichnet worden. Der 58-jährige nahm den "Theater-Oscar" für seine Rolle als Präsident Lyndon B. Johnson in Robert Schenkkans Stück "All The Way" entgegen. Für Cranston, der zwischen 2008 und 2010 drei Emmys und 2014 einen Golden Globe erhielt, ist es die erste Theater-Auszeichnung seiner Karriere. "All The Way" erhielt außerdem den Preis für das beste Theaterstück. How I Met Your Mother-Star Neil Patrick Harris bekam den Tony für den besten Musical-Hauptdarsteller, im Revival von "Hedwig and the Angry Inch".
Hugh Jackman moderierte die Gala, während Samuel L. Jackson, Orlando Bloom, Rapper T.I. und LL Cool J am Sonntagabend (08. Juni) als Laudatoren auf der Bühne standen.
